Basseterre, St. Kitts, Thursday 13th April 2017 – The cruise season continues to progress commendably as the Federation saw the inaugural call from the 5th branch of Tui Cruises’ MS Mein Schiff yesterday, Wednesday 12th April 2017.

In a plaque exchange ceremony held on the ship, the captain made special mention of his experience docking this spanking new vessel,

St. Kitts is a very beautiful island. Our journey docking in went well…the pilots were very helpful and professional in communicating to us. We understand that the deep water pier is a commercial pier and so it was very short in length for the vessel. Nonetheless we are here up until later this evening and we plan to enjoy our stay here.”

Honorable Lindsay Grant, Minister with Responsibility for Tourism, in his official greeting to the captain, assured the captain that in his next visit “not only would we offer an extended pier but a brand new spanking 2nd cruise berthing facility. This new pier is expected to be operational for the 2018 cruise season and would be able to accommodate the largest ships in the world, side by side, including the anticipation of your new MS Mein Schiff 6 to be launched in June of this year.”

Mr. Ian Ferguson, SCASPA’s Chief Financial Officer extended sincere thanks to the Captain for considering St. Kitts a destination in the MS Mein Schiff’s 5 itinerary.

Also in attendance were Product Development Manager of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Ms. Melnesia Marshall, representatives from the St. Kitts and Nevis Police Department, Immigration representatives and Donald Cable of Delisle Walwyn & Co. Ltd. the ship’s agent.

TUI Mein Schiff 5 is currently the youngest ship of the cruise fleet of TUI Cruises and holds a capacity of 2534 passengers, crew non-inclusive. The cabins and suites aboard the Mein Schiff 5 are as well as on their predecessors. In addition to indoor, outdoor, balcony and family cabins, there are also a variety of different suites.
