How do I clear Cargo?

Cargo clearing is a multi-stepped process involving contact with the ship’s agents, the Customs Department, and the Port Authority.

The consignee (person importing goods), will first visit the ship’s agent to obtain the Customs Declaration Form.

After the Form has been obtained, the consignee follows the steps below to clear his/her goods:

  1. Visit Port Authority Transit Shed – Identify Cargo

  2. Customs Examination – Have Cargo Ready for Inspection

  3. Customs Supply Office – Stamping of Documents by Customs Officer
(Required for All Cargo except Foodstuff or Used Clothing)

  4. Customs Long Room – Calculation of Customs Duty

  5. Port Authority Clerk – Calculation of Port Dues

  6. Customs Cashier – Payment of Customs duty

  7. Port Authority Cashier – Payment of Port fees

  8. Customs Warehouse Office – Checking of Manifest and Approval for Cargo Release

  9. Port Authority Transit Shed Office – Obtain Gate Pass

  10. Cargo Release and Security Check upon exiting Compound
